Dr. Niko "Nick" Tatopoulos is the main protagonist in the American film Godzilla and the TV series Godzilla: The Series. He is played by Matthew Broderick in the film and Ian Ziering in the TV-series. He is a scientist and he was part of the crew of scientists which helped the US military to take down the first Godzilla, but he also saved and raised the last individual of the species, Godzilla Junior. Tatopolous had met both the father-creature and the son up close and almost created special relationships with both creatures and probably learned more about the creatures than any one else. After Nick adopted Godzilla's only surviving son, Godzilla Jr. considered Nick to be his father.
Nick Tatopoulos has a light beard, dark, straight hair and is dressed relatively casual. He is a small, slender man, and he is often seen with a headgear.
Nick Tatopoulos is a friendly man who puts all his knowledge in the service of humanity. He is pleased to see his ex-girlfriend after a long time. Initially he cooperated with the military, and later he worked with the French secret service. Tatopoulos sees Godzilla as an animal, not as a monster.
Godzilla (1998)Nick Tatopoulos is the main character of the movie. He was studying mutant worms in Chernobyl before being approached by the U.S. military for help them concerning Godzilla.
Godzilla 2 (Cancelled, 1999-2003)
Nick was supposed to appear in the cancelled film Godzilla 2, again as the main character.
Godzilla 3 (Cancelled, 2003)
Nick would have probably returned in the cancelled film Godzilla 3.
Godzilla: The Series (1998-2000)In Godzilla: The Series Nick Tatopoulos became the adoptive father of Godzilla Junior. He founded an organisation called H.E.A.T., whose he is team leader.
