Godzilla 3 was the working title of the movie which was supposed to have been the second sequel to the 1998 film Godzilla, the sequel to Godzilla 2, and the last film in a trilogy, but was unfortunately cancelled after the project had fallen into development hell, and during the time that the sequels were considered to be made, TriStar Pictures' rights from Toho Co. LTD. to use the Godzilla-character unfortunately expired in May, 2003, one year before the latest Godzilla film was released, Godzilla: Final Wars, where the American Godzilla species had it's latest movie appearance in the form of the newly created character Zilla that was exclusively made for Final Wars by the director Ryuhei Kitamura as a fan-service.
It is as now almost certain that Godzilla 3 will never be made due to Hollywood moving forward with new plans for an Americanized Godzilla. Despite the odds, there are some Godzilla-fans who have hopes of someday seeing a Godzilla 2 and 3 in the future, though this is highly unlikely.
